General Eligibility

The ABEX Awards (2026) are open to businesses operating in Saskatchewan at the time of application and that remain in operation through the ABEX Awards Gala.

Before applying, please review the eligibility requirements for each individual award category. In addition to category-specific criteria, all applicants must meet the following general requirements:

  • Must be a for-profit business.
    (Exception: Non-profit organizations may apply for the Non-Profit Impact Award.)
  • Must demonstrate financial viability by submitting financial statements as required.
  • Must be a registered business and have been operating in Saskatchewan for at least two (2) years as of April 1, 2026.
    (Exception: Applicants for the Growth and Expansion Small Business Award and the Young Entrepreneur Award must have been operating for at least one (1) year as of April 1, 2026.)
  • Must not currently serve as a board member or staff of the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce.
  • Must not apply for a category in which the business was a recipient in the previous year (other categories remain eligible); A Business of the Year recipient is not eligible to receive Business of the Year again for five (5) years.
  • Membership in the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce is not required.

For the purposes of eligibility, “operating” means engaging in commercial activities, providing goods or services, generating revenue, or conducting business functions within Saskatchewan.
